No boxes needed.

Do you ever have times where you just don’t feel like cooking? Well last Friday night was one of those times for me. I had planned on making spaghetti and meatballs for dinner, in honor of my sons new favorite show, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. But after picking up my husband from work the appeal of getting out of the house for a bit, not cooking or cleaning up afterwards was greater than that of meatballs. My husband suggested trying a new pizza place in town. I love trying new places! Especially when it comes to good pizza. Mark had read a glowing review of Jack’s Wood Fired Pizza in the local paper that day at work and so it was decided-PIZZA NIGHT!!!

We had seen it before while driving down main street, but just barely. Their signage isn’t very good. I’m assuming they know this and for one reason or another they can’t get a bigger, more visible sign up yet. As you can see from the picture it’s kind of under an awning, hiding a bit. But their lack of a more visible sign from main street doesn’t stop people from coming in, lots and lots of people!

We showed up around 5:15 pm, and there were only about three other couples eating. We ordered two regular pizzas from the large chalkboard menu on the wall. We got our favorite kind of pizza, pepperoni with olives (actually olives is Marks thing, but I’ll eat them) and one of their specials called “That one pizza” (one that Mark remembered reading about in the article).

We sat down with our two kids and I looked around. I actually don’t remember much about the decor but that it seemed kinda simple. I love a place that can impress me with the food as well as the decor and I was a bit underwhelmed this time. The main event so to speak was the brick oven sitting just to the side of the ordering counter. Large rocks lined the oven and it was actually quite nice. It made up for the lack of ambiance I felt everywhere else (man I’m a jerk). The tables and benches were just average I’d say, I even think I remember hearing someone say they were the sames ones that were there with the previous restaurant. But I do have to say I commend the owners for being frugal and not going out and spending a ton of money on new seats while the other ones still serve their purpose. The tables were clean, as was the bathroom. Having kids were always making trips to the bathroom and it was nice that it was clean. I had wished that I’d seen a sign directing me to the bathroom, because I hate asking, especially if we’re trying to get our three year old there in a hurry. But down a hallway and to the left you’ll find a clean one.

This was taken before it got busy.

As we waited for our pizzas people starting just pouring in. Jack himself stood in front of the oven, smiling and sliding pizza’s in and out as quick as he could. Soon all the seats were filled and a line was forming. No doubt they read the same article Mark had. Actually as we were leaving we saw a ton of people walk up and leave because there was such a line (Sorry Jack, I’m sure you don’t want to hear that). I’m guessing because the combination of the newspaper article and being a Friday night it was kinda packed.

That would be our pizza on the table ready to be cut.

We actually didn’t wait too long for our pizzas. I’m guessing from the time we ordered till the pizza was on the table was 10 min. As I understand it the super hot oven they cook in make cooking time very short. They came to our table right from the oven just a few feet away. This was my first time trying pizza like this. I’ve been told this is what REAL pizza is like, the kinda stuff you don’t usually get in Cache Valley. It had a super thin crust and a flavor that is different than any other pizza I’ve had. I’m assuming the fire and the oven give it it’s unique flavor or maybe its the smoke, however they do it, it’s awesome! The toppings tasted so fresh and the red sauce that were on both of our pizzas was awesome. I’d have to say out of the two that we tasted I liked the “That one Pizza” better.

I’ll wrap this up now with kind of a weird way to review food, but instead of describing how everything tasted I’m just going to say one more thing because I think it speaks volumes. We didn’t take any left overs home. And it wasn’t because my husband and I can put away pizza like nobody’s business, we had no leftovers because this pizza pie was awesome! No boxes needed!

Find them at 256 North Main in Logan or join them on facebook.

We recommend trying it out. It’s right up there with our other favorite pizzerias in town, but definitely different than the rest.

P.S. I noticed they have Grinders there and we’re definitely going back to see if they stand up or are better than our other Logan favorites.

I am excited to try them. I hadn’t heard of them until this post. We ate pizza cooked like this On Salt Spting. It was the best pizza I have had to date. I hope they compare. Thanks Mel.
