Get the cure for Sewingitis!

What is Sewingitis? Okay, an obviously made up word, but it’s also something that ails the majority of crafty women everywhere. It’s when you just have a hankerin’ to sew something and then give it someone else.

What’s the cure for Sewingitis you ask? It’s service!

Join the first ever Sewingitits service project at the end of this month (details to come later)! We will be making simple school bags for children. Bags will be donated to the Family Information and Resource Center of Logan.

The FIRC is small nonprofit educational organization that provides free resources, programs, and services to youth, families and professionals. They have hundreds of books, both for children to enjoy and for parents. They have a wide selection of educational and developmentally appropriate games and toys for parents to check out for two weeks at a time. And this is all free! Crazy! This is the same center that I’ve been taking my two year old to for what’s called Storytime, a free program (called Ready Set School) to help kids get ready for Kindergarten. When Wellington started going to class there he was given his own school bag to keep with school supplies in it. He was so excited to have his own bag, with pencils, crayons, scissors, paper, and all the supplies he’d need for his school! He is so proud of himself when he walks up to school with his bag.

Visit Sewingitis.blogspot.com for more details on this project and others like it. Want to help but don’t have time? We’re in need of supplies or donations so we could purchase supplies.
