Throwing leaves in your kids face is totally worth $50.

I’ve entered Wellington for the second time into the Stork Landing Baby photo contest. I won last time with his funniest baby photo. This months theme is Autumn fun. I didn’t have any recent (recent as in the last couple of days) of Wellington, and nothing “fall-ish” so we headed up the canyon in search of some bright fall colors.
I thought it would be so fun if I could get Wellington to throw some leaves up in the air. He didn’t cooperate so I just threw some over his head instead. He thought it was so funny.

I’d love it, love it, If your around Stork Landing on center street anytime in the next month and pop in and vote for his picture. If I win, that will be a $50 gift certificate to the store. And $50 closer to a mattress. I know, not a very fun purchase but we need one.
Also, need another favor from all you wonderful people, if your there voting, remember to vote for my friends baby, baby Owen! And my sister-in-law’s baby, baby Isobel. Although, they are in the same category so you’ll have to decide who is cuter.
Baby Owen’s Mom, had the cutest picture of him with some leaves. But instead of throwing leaves at his face, she nicely placed him in a pile of leaves, what’s her angle? Trying to make me look bad (just kidding E).
5 commentsBednight Snack
Mark and I have have a favorite late night snack. It’s really good anytime, but last night separately and at different times, Mark and I went down to the kitchen to have some cottage cheese and Mrs. Dash. Actually I was a little upset when I went down to secret eat in the kitchen and Mark had already eaten some of the cottage cheese.

It’s super easy to make and you usually have these things on hand.
Cottage Cheese (doesn’t matter if it’s small or large curd)
Original Mrs. Dash
Ritz Crackers
Mark likes to mix the cottage cheese and Mrs. Dash right together in the cottage cheese container or in a separate bowl, then use the mixture to top on crackers. I like to go ahead and put the cottage cheese right on the cracker then sprinkle some Mrs. Dash on the top.
It’s a little bit of heaven right before bed. Or whenever.
P.S. When searching for the words “cottage cheese” on google images, be warned that is not pleasant.
5 commentsHey, I’ve invented a new word and a new outlook.
It’s been a while since I’ve written anything worthwhile. For a while there I lost any and all desire to keep up on posting on Melarky, but today I feel blogergized. Hey, I just made up a new blog word!
I’ve come to the conclusion that content on this site will never be deep, it will never reveal my secrets (with the exception of a few entertaining embarrassing tid-bits, ie: eating a chocolate Ex-lax bar for the chocolate not the medical effects). My posts will never meet any high standards of literacy, I’m not that eloquent with words, in fact that word “eloquent” was looked up.
Part of the reason I’ve had such a writers block lately is I’ve been trying too hard. I know, your thinking THAT drivel was “trying hard”. I try too hard to please those I think are possibly reading my bunk. I try too hard for those high comment numbers. I try too hard to be entertaining, and lets face it I’m not that exciting.
I’m going to stick to doing reviews, bragging about my son, tunes, photography, keeping you posted on deals, delicious new recipes and cool videos. There will be the occasional personal story but I’m going to stop trying so hard, stop worrying about what others will think of me. Lame-o’s.
So that’s my new outlook, a carefree blog, lighthearted and more honest. Honest enough anyway to mention I’ve eaten a half a pint of Ben and Jerry’s Jamaican Me Crazy Sorbet(good stuff btw) while I wrote this post. Maybe it inspired me, I should eat and type more often. “Mark, I don’t know why the keys are all sticky”.
5 commentsZoom, Zoom, Wellington is off to bed.
Wellington has happily slept in his crib for almost two years now. He’s loved his crib with only one attempt at climbing out, has now moved on to bigger and better things. I wanted to get him a toddler bed for his 2nd birthday, but a deal came up too good to pass up, so he got his birthday present a little early.

It was the perfect bed for him. He’s obsessed with cars, all things that have to do with transportation really. Trucks, buses, trains, boats, tractors…. So a race car bed was perfect for him.
I’ve been searching on KSL.com classifieds almost daily, and very often would a bed come up, but it was either too much, or too far away to practically pick up. But when one came up only a mile or two away from our house, and a more than fair price, I grabbed it.

Wellington loves it. He’s slept in it for about 4 or 5 nights now. He’s doing OKAY with it. He gets out multiple times a night, and naps are a bit more interesting, but overall I think he’s transitioning very well.
I think the transition is more hard on me, because it requires more attention than just sticking him in his crib and “trapping” him there or using the crib as a means of punishment. Now when I threaten, “If you dont stop, your going to go to bed” he’s more than happy to oblige.

When he gets up in the morning, the first thing he says is, “Car”. He loves to show off his bed and lay down with his cousin Gray in it. He piles on his bears, baby dolls, and toys in with him.
He’s pretty cute in it, and I think he will continue to grow into his big boy bed (oh, my little baby is growing up).
6 commentsThe night Mark decided he hated Celebration Center
Okay, he doesn’t really hate all of Celebration Center, just one ride. The Celebration Center is a local amusement “park”. It’s not very big, they have a few extreme rides, an arcade, a kids soft play, and a cafe. It’s fun, and only about 2 minutes from our house.

Gary, our brother-in-law and avid thrill seeker, convinced Mark to try a ride with him Friday night called the Screamin’ Swing. Mark has never really been a fan of heights or extreme type rides. I understand his hatred I also have never liked heights, even going as far as freezing in my tracks while hiking with my brother Troy, we were a little high up, I’m sure not that high to some, but to me, it was the empire state building, suffice it to say Troy had to come back for his teenage sister holding my hand the rest of the way.
I thought Mark too would have wanted his hand held ( “Gary, hold me!” ) But they were put on opposite sides of the ride, I guess to distribute the weight. As they were waiting for their turn, Mark got the chance to see the ride in action, as he watched a group of 12 year olds far braver than him swing back and forth several times, he decided it looked horrible. But he still went since he promised Gary he would.
As it started I could hear him say things like “oh, I don’t like this” “oh, man”. He hated it the second he got on. On the other side Gary was swinging his legs and loving every minute of it. The ride wasn’t very long, but Mark said it felt like an eternity.
After the ride ended the one-handed teenage operator (yes, he really only had only one hand) asked Mark how he liked it (I’m sure he saw the fear in his eyes), Mark replied, “NOT MY CUP OF TEA”. Mark also mentioned that he felt so un-secure. There was just a little bar that came down over his lap and he said the way the seat is made, you don’t sit all the way down in it, so he didn’t really fit in the seat anyway, so it made the bar not go down.
Gary tried to get him to go on another ride with him, but Mark flat out refused. That’s my Marky. Mark and I share the same hatred for heights and extreme rides. Disneyland is about our level.
And so here you have it….Mark on the Screamin’ Swing!

1 commentWhy no posts?
Well there’s been a real lack of posts lately, that is due to that fact that I feel sick all the time. And I can’t spend more than 10 minutes on a computer without feeling a wave a nausea sweep over me. This also means that I haven’t been keeping up on others blogs either.
But I thought I’d quick post these cute pictures of Wellington. He is so cute in his pajamas, and he recently found a binky in his room. He never liked a binky before, refused them actually, so I think it’s pretty cute that he likes them now. And I totally let him do it, because he just does it for fun, he never seriously sucks on one. He mostly likes to spit them out to see how far it will go.

The oompa loompa shirt he is wearing is one of my old ones, that I actually used to fit into. Never again will I fit into it, so it’s now a big shirt for Welly to wear to bed.
I feel really bad for the kid lately. I haven’t felt like doing much, so we just stay inside and watch shows. Today I felt a little better so we went outside and I watched him run through the sprinklers. He was pretty ticked though when it was time to come inside to clean. I was a mean Mom, and made him clean up all his toys, and clean up the milk he spilt all over the carpet. Yup, mean.
I make it a point to have Wellington clean up his own messes. He does his two year old best and then I’ll do the rest. But he’s a pro now at getting down on his knees and wiping up a mess. He’s great at vacuuming, and throwing laundry in the wash.
Other things going on: We took Wellington to his first movie the other day. We went to see a manatee of Wall-E. He really liked it and only got up a few times to run around the isle. It didn’t bother anyone though, cause there was only one other couple in the whole theater, and they were sitting pretty far from us. His favorite part was the popcorn and soda we got.
