Mel’s Summer Mix

I’m really looking forward to this summer. I usually don’t like the heat, but I’m really excited to get some sun and spend more time outside. As I was coming to work today I heard the song, “Steal my Sunshine” and it reminded me so much of summer, so I thought today’s post would be if I could make you all a radical mix tape for the summer I’d put these songs on it….

tape

So hopefully they will get you excited for summer to come. Or if you don’t live in Logan this should help you enjoy the summer that has already come.

Do you have song that makes you think summer when you hear it?

Out with the Old in with the New

I don’t know if this post is just sad or a husbands dream come true.

I just got a new pair of shoes. They’re just like my old ones, but these are actually white. The sad part of the post is how long I had the old pair. I’ve worn them for a little over 4 years now! An unthinkable amount of time to some. And making one pair of shoes last that long is any husbands dream come true.

I love my Etnies shoes. They are so comfy and obviously made to take a beating. My love for these shoes started years ago when I worked as a cake decorator at Sam’s club. I knew I would be standing on my feet all day, so I wanted a super comfy shoe. After working there for a year the shoes were pretty hashed from getting wet daily and having cake icing spilled on them, so it was time for a new pair. I stuck with what I knew, and got the exact same shoe. Now after 4 1/2 years the cycle is repeating itself.

I love them, and I’m curious to see how long these will last.

Alternate titles for this post: Barbara’s ashamed to call me her sister. ; I like your gray shoes. ; Now that’s just Sad. ; Melanie helps do her part to keep Etnies in business.

Cutest Baby Ever!

Our newest little niece is almost a week old. Born last Sunday, she came 3 1/2 weeks early. Isn’t she adorable?

Congratulations to my lil’ sister Barbara and her hubby Ryan. I’m so happy and excited for you to be parents. You can see more pictures of her here and one more here.

Our Music Lover

Wellington is pretty good about putting headphones on if it means he’s listening to an upbeat tune or in this case watching his Lazytown.

Here we’re visiting my brother Lane in his hotel room while he was visiting. Lane set him on his laptop watching Lazytown and put the headphones on so we didn’t have to yell over “You are a pirate” and “Bing Bang”.

Wellington loves music and daily bops to a song. He listens to all kinds of music, pretty much whatever mommy listens to he’s subjected to. He’s fallen asleep once or twice sitting on my lap in front of the computer listening to music with the headphones on. Its pretty cute, and I love our little rockin’ baby.

Way Back Wednesday

Today’s Way Back Wednesday is from a 90’s band from Sweden, Ace of Base. Now don’t stop reading! Even though the song, “The Sign” is sure to get stuck in your head, its a song that screams the 90’s.

Released in 1993, the song reached the number 1 position in at least fourteen countries: Argentina, Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, United Kingdom and United States.

The song spent six weeks at number 1 in the US becoming the best-selling single of the year 1994.

I recall thinking this was the coolest song when it came out. I loved it and thought it was so fun and upbeat. Oh, the good old 90’s!

It kinda seems like they were a one hit wonder, but they had other singles that were just as popular….”All That She Wants” and “Don’t Turn Around”. They haven’t released anything new in a while, but continue to do world tours.

Interesting Fact- 3 out of the 4 band members are siblings.

Wonderful World of Woot

“What’s on woot?” Is a question asked at our house every night at 11:00p.m. While most couples are cuddling into bed or already asleep at 11:00, we’re up at the computer anxiously waiting to see what’s on woot for the day.

Not sure what a woot is? Read a previous post on it!!!

I just wanted to do a reminder post about how great the site is. Even though everyday isn’t a super impassable deal, there are those days when you really luck out.

Did you also know there is a shirt woot? We’ve gotten multiple shirts off of shirt.woot.com before and have loved them. The great thing about shirt.woot.com is that the shirt of the day is only 10$ with free shipping (of course you can pay for faster shipping). Similar to woot.com, every night the item changes but with shirt.woot.com the design changes. Again, they have a limited number so once they’re gone, they’re gone. Some designs are great, some not so great. Our favorite is when they have a “?” shirt. That means you just pick the size and its a surprise what they send you. We’ve done that twice now, the first time we got a “?” shirt, Mark got a space invaders shirt, and me a robot chicken shirt.

Note:It is possible to get a second chance shirt for $5 dollars more, but not all designs become seconds….

A fairly new addition to woot is sellout.woot.com. You can also find great deals here the only thing that is different is that woot is in partnership with yahoo shopping.

It’s definitely worth it to check all three of these sites out as often as you can. They have great deals on electronics, tools, home appliances, clothes, gadgets, watches, too many things to name!

Rockin’ Baby

I thought this was so cute. I’m such a sucker for cute baby videos. I still can’t get gushy over cutesy pet videos though, I’ll leave that stuff to Troy.

Blackhawk Complaint

So I got a notice in the mail today that informed me I was in violation of the CCR’s and that I needed to remove all diapers and diaper pails from the porch or I’d get a fine (We live in the Blackhawk Condos), about a $50 fine.

I called and asked, “You really can’t have a diaper pail?”. Mine is like a nice one with a flip up lid, and they said no not even that. I asked her “Did everyone get one?” because I bet you could find at least one in every cul-de-sac…she said “Yes a bunch were sent out because someone complained”….
I guarantee the one who complained wasn’t a busy Mom.

Things like this are just another reminder of how I would like to move out. It will be nice when we are in our own house, and I can leave a poppy diapers on my porch all I want.
