King of Kong
This is a great documentary that was just recently released (though the release is really limited). It follows 2 classic gamers as one trys to defend his Donkey High score and the other trys to beat it.
The great thing about this documentary is that you don’t have to be a die hard gamer of any kind to enjoy it. The characters are interesting, the story is told well, and they have just the right amount of comedy/drama to make it interesting to all.

5 commentsWoot is having another Woot-off…
Woot.com is having another woot off today. In case you missed our earlier post about woot-off’s, it’s basically they are taking all of the stuff that they didn’t sell out of in the past, and marking it down even further until it does sell out. Usually you have to wait until midnight for a new deal, but on Woot Off’s, a new deal is posted after the previous deal sells out, so check back often as they will have lots of good deals through out the day. There will be a status bar (just like the one above) that will tell you how much an item is left (doesn’t give an exact number, but as the stock diminishes the bar goes down).

I was talking with Ryan the other night about this after we saw a big projection screen up at the university. This DIY projection screen/home cinema seems really cool but only possible if you have some money and some skill for taking apart an LCD flatscreen. Click here for a bit more detailed info on it!
5 commentsKiss me..No really, you have to the bottle says.
I guess you would get this if you didn’t have any bottles laying around? This electronic spin the bottle game will come in handy for your next anxiety teenage party. Yuri?? Just teasing….It actually looks pretty fun.
Maybe I need to get it for a couples party, but you can only kiss your husband. Hmmm…that would be pointless to have the bottle then. I guess I don’t need it.

4 commentsI wish I could have married Heidi.
My first impression of Heidi was that she was a little quiet. She was a homebody obsessed with Charlton Heston and Star Wars. She did a lot of babysitting her niece and nephew, taking hour long showers and listing to the Monkey’s.
I didn’t pay a lot of attention to Heidi because well, I was busy making out with her little brother Mark (hussy!). Right before Mark left on his mission, I began to really hate Heidi because she was appointed our chaperon (I wonder why?). I started to resent her, “Why does SHE have to come?”
It wasn’t until the day that Mark left on his mission did we become friends. After we dropped Mark off at the MTC, we went to Costco and there Heidi and I played on the office chairs. With Mark out of the way (sorry Mark) we started to get along and notice we had a the same sense of humor.
A few months after Mark was on his mission I asked if I could live at the Stevenson’s for a while. I slept on the couch downstairs but one night, I knocked on Heidi’s door and asked if I could sleep in her room with her. While this might seem strange to some, I grew up sharing a room and usually a bed with my sisters, so I didn’t see anything weird about it.
It was like a fun sleepover every night (yes we were in our twenties not our teens). Playing Phase 10, staying up all night and sleeping in. I learned a lot about Heidi’s sleeping habits then. How she was a faithful bed maker, she prefers to be the little spoon, and that she didn’t appreciate me teasing her about her the lotion and gloves she’d put on her hands each night. “Hey, its Mickey Mouse!”
It was really nice to be the same body size too because we were able to share clothes. Once I had tried on a shirt of hers and deciding not to wear it I put it back in her closet. Later she asked if I had worn that shirt, I said I had tried it on but didn’t wear it. How did she know you ask, apparently I had put it back in the wrong way.
I moved out of the Stevenson’s house and got an apartment two blocks away. We moved our sleepovers to my apartment. It was kinda hard at times sharing a twin bed but we managed.
We also attended a singles ward together. Together we had great experiences helping each other serve in our callings, making friends, going to activities and parties. As a ward missionary, Heidi worked hard to reactivate the inactive. One time she was making a pie for a house full of boys that had a few inactives. She called me upstairs to help her stir the filling. I had just finished putting fake nails on and after I had stirred and poured the filling in the pie, I was missing a few nails. Yes, we still gave the pie to the boys.
After we had started attending the singles ward together I started to notice a change in Heidi. She was more social, she wanted to be out doing more things instead of staying home by herself. I remember she used to be so shy and she would get red in the face if she was in front of people but she soon lost that and was more social than me.
We did a lot of shopping together. Heidi had a job at Gottschalk’s and after working there she didn’t really have any money to show for it, because we had blown it all on clothes. Sorry Heidi.
I was so happy that Heidi met Gary. He was such a nice guy and I knew she’d be happy. A few days before Heidi’s wedding, Mark came home. This time we stayed friends, balancing our friendship and the dating I did with her little brother.
I was a little sad when she moved away, but almost two years later, right before me and Marky’s wedding, she came back to live in Logan and I was so glad I had my friend back.
I’m really lucky to have such great sisters and sister-in-laws and I love them all. Heidi and I have a goofy kind of relationship though having been friends and single gals together. She was a friend to me when Marky was away on his mission, a great example to me being faithful at saying her night and morning prayers, serving in her callings and keeping her standards.
Its been so fun to have her living so close and have our husbands be friends. I loved being pregnant with her at the same time and now experiencing motherhood. She is a great support now, always there if I need her to shop with, talk to, share in making dinner for our families, throw a party with or just hang out.
In my opinion there is nothing more precious than the relationship you have with your family or extended family members. And oh, Heidi what are you making for dinner tonight?

I thought this was pretty cool, although I cant see it being the future of billboards.
6 commentsWhere you going to hose ‘em down?
Wellington is now totally eating table foods. He wont let me feed him anymore. If I try, he gets so mad. He loves to feed himself. One of his favorite things to eat is of course one of the messiest things to eat, ravioli. Here are a few pictures of him enjoying his favorite food.

He also loves noodles, spaghetti o’s, cheerios, cut up fruit, peas and carrots. It is nice that he can feed himself now, although I think he probably gets less to eat because its on him and the floor.

After this dinner, Mark helped me hose him down in the kitchen sink. That’s the other thing, self-feeding means a messy baby, more clean up and tubbies.
8 commentsBuffalo never tasted so good.
We were finally able to go back to Maddox tonight. Mark and I went when Wellington was younger and it wasn’t a very good experience. He was super fussy and nothing helped settle him down, we ended up taking turns walking around with him while the other ate.
This time we left Wellington with my Mom. We called up Heidi and Gary to see if they wanted to go with us on a double date. They also left there kids with a babysitter. Mammy watched their three kids along with Scott and Korby’s four kids (I guess Scott and Korby went out to eat too). She must have had her hands full.
We made sure we had reservations to Maddox. We learned our lesson last time waiting 45 minutes to get in. We were sat in the Buffalo room, as you can see from the pictures there were two big buffalo heads in the dinning room.

The food was so good and well worth any wait or the 30 minute drive down to Brigham. The rolls with raspberry butter, the corn bread, homemade soup, potatoes, turkey steak, fried chicken, homemade sarsaparilla and buffalo burger was what I had. “What is everyone else going to have?” Mark and I shared our plates, so I got a taste of just about everything.
When I got home I was surprised to come home to a clean house. My Mom and Carrie who were watching Wellington, cleaned up for me. Even the toilet got a scrub. They are the best babysitters ever!
