Makings of a warped childhood

Among the large pile of dolls, toys and games at the Logan D.I., Heidi, my sister-in-law, spotted this awesome Pee-Wee Herman pull string doll. She was kind enough to let me claim it. It’s now apart of some strange toys we have including; a fake hand, a book called “Perry Poops”, a talking Donald Trump doll (now with only one leg), and two African-American ventriloquist dummies (both of which are very scary). In preparation for our baby to come, what do you think we should add to our strange toy collection?

Abracadabra!

Stage smoke rolling and lights flashing, the “Theatre of Illusion” show started. Magicians Kevin and Cindy Spencer lit up the stage with their personalities and their obvious love for what they do. We enjoyed Kevin’s jokes, and Cindy’s smile and charm. Together they were really very “cute”.

The show was upbeat, with plenty of “illusions” to keep you guessing. I even had trouble getting to sleep that night with thoughts of, “How did Cindy fit into such a small box?” or “How did he get that dollar bill in the lemon?” (Reality or Illusion? “See I was listening Kevin”) There were plenty of impressive “illusions”. It was fun to see a Houdini escape from a water filled container, and Kevin crawling through a fast spinning industrial fan.

There was plenty of audience participation, but not from me. I had promised Mark, my husband, before the show that I would raise my hand when a volunteer was needed. I chickened out when the time came, and dashed his dreams of me ever being on stage. He teased me that he was disappointed, but he soon forgot when he caught a lemon as part of a trick. We kept the lemon, and after the show I fought my way through the excited 8 year olds to get Kevin Spencer to sign it.

Overall we had a great time and we were totally entertained. We had visited their website before we went to the show, and they lived up to everything in it. We were really glad that a show of this caliber came to our little town of Logan, Utah, and we hope that more shows like this are to come. We recommend that if the Spencer’s Theatre of Illusion come to your town, go! Check out www.spencersmagic.com or check out their on-the-road BLOG

The thin line between inventive efficiency and fat lazy slob just got thinner.

How did this invention slip under my radar? It seems like the perfect eating utensil (unlike the spork which was like “so last post”). I’m always see-sawing my food with the blunt edge of my fork, as if I knew someday somebody would invent the knork.

Do yourself a favor, and check out Knork Headquarters for a flash video demonstration and some fancy pie charts that prove dinner time efficiency!

It’s like I got sporks on the mind!

That last post title made me think of sporks, and how you never really hear that much about the revolutionary efficient eating utensil, so I did a quick search and found the rolls royce of sporks!

Now all we need are some sporks!

We finally got our straw spoons today. They were actually delivered yesterday to our neighbors, but they waited until today to actually hand them over.

Sadly, I turned off the slushee machine last night to do my part for mother earth, so I haven’t actually gotten a chance to test out the spoon straws, but I do know from countless snow shack and 7-11 visits, they are a valuable addition to the slushee machine.

Slurpee Mania

We bought a slushee machine a while back. We found a local guy that used to work for a company that rented the machines out for parties and such. Not quite sure how he came about personally owning it, but he let it go for a screaming deal ;)

It’s great, it’s a Ugolini (made in italy) granita (fancy way of saying slushee) machine. It has 2 bowls that hold about 2 gallons each and it can keep them frozen or just cool (so you can make slushees or just a cold drink).

We’ve tried a few different flavors (we got 6 different flavors off the net and found some more locally at Maceys Grocery Store, they come in syrups that you cut with water and they taste great). So far we’ve tried:

  • Fruit Punch
  • Orange Dreamcicle
  • Pink Lemonade
  • Orange Mango

And we still have the following left:

  • Blue Raspberry
  • Lime
  • Peach

So far, Fruit Punch has been our favorite, but the others have been great too. We’ll have a video up soon of the machine in action!

New Look…

Mark just updated the guts of this website, but we lost the old look (the brown stripes). He’s going to see how hard it is to get the old design back, but if it’s a big pain, we may just be staying with this one (this is the generic look of the WordPress install).

We upgraded the guts of the website because we were getting way too much spam in comments (this new version of WordPress has some new features to cut down on that). So feel free to leave your thoughts and comments on the posts now.

Turns out it’s not glandular!

We recently found out that we’re going to have a baby! We have posted the first ultrasound pictures in our photo album. The due date is November 8th, and we’re really excited. We don’t care if it’s a boy or a girl, and plan on finding out as soon as I am far enough along.
